I think we need room for discussion in the Comitia, rather than set up a poll immediately. The question, in my view, is not just "will we keep the current system or revert to the earlier system ?". As said in my previous post, with our current administrative structure, I am in favour of "freeing the...

The role of the collegia at the moment, and how they have best served, is to organize our boards and our website...The concerns that some formerly had about the development ...

Attice, Please set up a poll for Cleopatra as well, with her assent. We could use another officer since we three men (Marius, Piscinus, egoque) are all relatively advanced in years and could fall ill or suffer some other distraction (throwing salt over the shoulder). Tergestus Salve, Not ...

Salvete omnes, As announced, elections for a concilium to lead SVR may begin today. Lacking a good voting system, I suggest we take a poll again, one for each candidate. As our concilium will need at least 3 members, the disapproval of one or more would mean that a new call for officers, and ...

Re: Evocati

Salvete, While reading Tacitus, we came across a class of soldiers, known as the "Evocati", soldiers whose military service is fulfilled and who can retire, but are asked to stay anyway, because of their experience. Does anyone know something more about them, a famous example perhaps ? Luci...

Re: Retread?

Salvete amici, Do I count as a retread...? Granted, I've been here since the mammoths went away, but...I've only ever held one office, the Rectorship of a Collegium that no longer exists. Ergo...I'm newish, right? >({|;-) (And, at 43, oldish by Board standards as well; and the only one c...

Salvete Sure, I am willing to serve on the board, but I too have no technical skills, and like Marius and Tergestus I also am an American. We need some others to do some of the work and to better represent SVR's diversity. I agree. Although I am willing to serve on the board as well, I would ...

Lead poisoning

Salvete omnes, Many of us may've heard the rather absurd thesis that one of the reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire lay in a downfall in its demography caused by lead poisoning, as the water in their aquaducts passed through leaden pipes. This thesis has been easily invalidated by showing th...

Re: Fit to Print?

Salvete omnes, A few months ago someone had a fine idea: I'd like to move that after we finish with our deliberations as a Concilium we make those deliberations available to any sodales who would like to see them. In other words, that we move all this material to the Comitia. We could do so...

Re: Confuzzled

Salve, mi Attice... Maybe it's just me being Confuzzled again, but...elections for what? Doesn't the Comitia now have to name and define our elective offices before we can reasonably expect anyone to fill them? In fide, Of course, that will be part of the process of electing new officers....
