Salve, The Historian Pliny the Elder makes reference to a M. Servilius Nonianus, who was one of the leading men in Rome, and who was terribly worried about losing his sight. To prevent this from happening he wore a lucky charm around his neck consisting of the two Greek letters alpha and rho. He ...

Salve,

Thanks a lot for these lessons! I've printed them all out. I been wanting to do a webpage but really didn't have much knowledge on how to do one. Now I have a ready reference to work with.

Salve,

Well if I can't start a Cornelian Empire I'll change my name to my new OP
Gens. I recently founded my own Gens there. The Servilian Empire sounds better!

I found the following info in the Nodeworks Encyclopedia: "Cornelia Metella (1st century BC) is one of the few Roman women cited by ancient sources. She was daughter of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Cornelius Scipio Nasica. Her proper name would have been Caecilia Metella, since Cornelia was the gen...

Salve, It it is VERY quiet! Both here and the OP. I guess people just have nothing to say. I thought for sure at least there would be some talk at the OP about my leaving Gens Cornelia and founding my own Gens(Servilia). This was the first time someone has left a Patrician Gens and founded a P...

A good example of what you are looking at is Quintus Servilius Fidenas. From what I have been able to find out about the real Quintus Servilius is he was one of the two Consular Tribunes that defeated the Etruscans at the city Fidenae. Hence his last name Fidenas for the City's conquest. Another S...

Salvete, I would not turn her away because of her beliefs. I was just curious as to our stance on animal sacrifice for religious purposes. The thread about it now has 46 e-mails in it and growing. Maxima Valeria Messallina's animal right's stand could spell future trouble for the OP with outsi...

Animal Sacrifice

Salve, Over in the OP there is a conversation going on between Flavius Vedius and a lady by the name of Maxima Valeria Messallina(she is a Vegan and a Animal Right's follower) about animal sacrifice. She is dead set against any animal sacrifice for any reason. What is our stand on such sacrifi...
