Salvete Omnes,

I lurk. School takes up most if not all of my time. I still try and read the discussions though and I'll chime in when I've got something to say that hasn't been said already.

For those of you wondering where this was taken, or which legion this is, here's the post from the one who took the photo: For the record, the group is Legio IX Hispana at the recent Marching through History Exposition event in Southern California. We make it a point to take a few pics with the ...

Hannibal, Rome's worst Nightmare

Honey for the dead?

Salvete Romani, I came across an interesting article today depicting the find of a Roman burial ground. One paragraph in particular piqued my curiosity though, allow me to quote it: Also unearthed were terracotta tubes inserted into graves through which mourning families would pour honey to n...

Salve Servili,

always interesting to see a legion in action. I saw some reenactors when we went to Wervik with some of the Belgae a few years ago, it was quite impressive (though I most fondly remember the rather tasty honey-sauce on the hotdogs).

Salve Scriboni, Seems to me like they contradicted themselves. They waited to marry and get children and having sex decreased their stature and strength. However, the other part you quoted stated that people with a lot of descendants were in high regard and having none earned no benefits. ...

Salvete omnes,

well, if we're planning on merging historical games and our games into one subforum, I'd like it to be called just "Ludi".

I voted for "Ludi Societatis" first but if they get merged, I don't think it would be an appropriate name.
