Salve Cleopatra, This is in August, right? Seeing as I have one re-exam ("only" one, but it's still one... :() and don't have a job yet for the summer (and I desperately need one), I don't think I will be able to make it. I'm terribly sorry, I wish it could have been different and hope others may...

As the two men flanking Draco silently went with him through the maze of corridors and finally into the wide gardens of the estate, he was feeling ever more queasy and separated. Although formerly praised for his bright mind by his friends in Rome, he didn't have the faintest clue as to why he was b...

Salve Cleopatra,

Rügen sounds interesting. Svantevit you say? To my ears that sounds Scandinavian more than Slavic... is it a transliteration of a Slavic (edit: I originally wrote "Saliv", lol) name then?

Salve Mari,

Ah, but a true Roman is a citizen of the world. As such, it's no surprise that art, architecture and other physical remnants of the civilisation are still doing it, nonne? ;)

Q. Valerius Scerio wrote:Draco Atticeque, are you still planning on submitting an essay?

Yes, but the 30th is a bit too soon for me, as I'm only finished with my exams the 28th, and I'm at the seaside for the weekend thereafter. I could use a little breather then, and I still need to think about a topic.

I will know whether I will be available on that day on July 6 - then I'll be having my proclamation.

Salve Luci Fideli, Welcome to SVR. I used to be quite big on actual forming of communities, but to form a 'real' community, with all that it takes, is quite a task. I believe that having something here that approaches or approximates a mirror of a real-life community will at least take five mo...

I am currently reading "Der Hofmeister" by Lenz. Not as boring as "Rasselas" by Samuel Johnson (which was insanely boring). And I thought the Greek patriarchs were boring when I was 16, hoho.

But no classical reading lately... I don't have time :(

Salve, This makes me wonder how your regular Roman would have said it... For example, in Dutch and German there are instances where one word order is much more common than the other (can't think of an example now, sorry), which is regarded as archaic, and usually only used by intellectuals. This ...

Salve Claudia, Welcome to SVR! I did not enjoy Gaarder's book at all, actually. The idea behind it is good, but I found the plot too slow-pacing and the introduction to the various philosophies written rather dryly. In fact, it's one of the few books I've ever read that really made me fall asl...
