Salve Drace,

Maybe I need to read more about him. I have read some of his philosophical works and letters. DIR paints a picture of an able and active ruler. But you are saying he was no Marcus Aurelius. What were his flaws in your view?

Pancration

Salvete,

Callidus and Romulus can settle this between themselves. Any plans for an online pankration, Tiberi Dionysi?

Rematch

I definitely want a rematch. Romulus' wins were less due to divine intervention than all-too-human cheating!! After the race, Callidus found that sand mixed with pitch had been poured on the axel of Celetior!

Salvete Omnes,

I agree that the CD is well worth it, but caution that the selections on the website have different titles on the CD and the lengths of the tunes on the CD jacket are all wrong. Otherwise a well researched and musically pleasant effort.

Salve Locate,

Yes, most of the "snack bars" at Pompeii were found with amphorae of wine stacked in the back. They differ from pubs, however, in that the bars were on the sidewalk so patrons did not actually enter the premises. Wouldn't work in rainy Belgium or England.
