Thanks for the corrections. The rank listing was devised of by Atticus and since he is a former latinist like me, I assumed it was correct. I'll make the changes henceforth.

Also, Tarq SHOULD make a new site update (finally, I may say) this week.

Which one do you mean? The real rankings were discussed at collegium militarium. The rankings in SVR were never really discussed... it's just so that after a certain amount of postings, a person's ranking changes, e.g. when passing the mark of 20, 50, 150 or 500.

Ahem, before implementing something like this might it not be nice to take it up with the rest of the Senate? And since you did implement it, might it not be nice of you to explain to the sodales why they suddenly find themselves in the ranks of our legions?

This ranking system was implemented together with the forum on Sep 1, 2002 and has always been this way (the only thing I did was to change the required numbers a little and add the special "Greek Hoplite" rank for hardcore hellenists). Did you really only notice it now?

Atticus implemented it, by the way, so he should be the one you seek to explain it, although I doubt that it should have been taken to the sodales or the Senate (nor the past, nor the present aediles ever received questions or complaints about it, btw). It's about as dangerous and real as our ludi circenses.

Yes, I only just noticed it, and I think it ridiculous that Marius is listed only as a Optio. He deserves higher rank, I don't care how you work out your requirements.
Speaking of the dangers of the circus, I note too that the numbers you are using could be taken as thousands of sesterses. You could use such as the basis of token wealth in SVR, using them in a census to categorize sodales into classes. With such virtual wealth you could conceivably initiate yet another dimension to our virtual world. For one thing it would allow us to bet on those races. Some other things come to mind to either gain or lose your virtual wealth, too. "Monetary" prizes in the races pro exempli.

If the wolf's hide troubles you, bear- and lion-skins are also authorised with that uniform. I've even heard tell of leopard-skins in Egypt, though if any Standard-bearer there were to insist on wearing it post-transfer-to-someplace-Roman I would consider him to be quite tasteless indeed, and thus unsuitable for your purposes.

My recommendation? --Go with the bear; the hide is impressive and the meat delicious.

I presume it was a slip there and you meant "in absentia" (absentia = absence). Unless you are deranged of course, and have become convinced that you ARE a form of "absence" (which would cause some serious ontological problems but that's another topic entirely ).
