Absentiae

Postby Gnaeus Dionysius Draco on Mon Jun 28, 2004 12:12 am

Yes, absentiae, nominative plural of absentia, you read it well!

From tomorrow around noon, lasting until at least July 2, following members of the SVR will be absent on a trip deep into the woods to celebrate the end of the exam period: M. Pomponius Lupus, Q. Pomponius Atticus, Ar. Sergia Fausta, Ar. Dionysia Veneta and myself. Ariadne Veneta and I will be absent until July 5.

Until then, be well!

Salvete!

I have just returned from my own trip to forget the exams - and although there were also trees, I was actually at the Graspop Metal Meeting, with a lot of nice shows (Alice Cooper rules!!). There was a lot of good noise around  I especially enjoyed the good old rock bands like Alice Cooper, Motörhead and Saxon. And of course, one of the best new bands in the world, In Extremo (for those who don't know them, it's medieval music mixed with some metal - certainly worth checking them out at their website)

This is more the way I like to forget the stress of the past exams

I also would like to mention that Atticus, Lupus and myself will be absent from July 7 to july 14. We will be in Napoli, Italy to visit the classical remains in the neighbourhood (Pompeii & co, here we come!).

I wish all of you a happy and educational trip. Please leave time in your itinerary to visit the National Archeological Museum in Naples. It is exciting to go through the ruins themselves, but all the best stuff found therein was carted off to the museum.

P.S. The Camera Segreta is now open for guided tours once a day....

Another absentia...

Mencius will be abroad from July 16-23.

And no, not to China this time (although I would very much like to be there now...) But the period is too short, let alone the shortage of funds...

Nah, Mencius is going to see Pope Johnny in the Vatican. Amongst other things that are duely over time

Salve Mencius,

You're going to Rome? I'm going to be in Rome myself from the 22nd! What part are you staying in?

Bene vale,

Salvete!

Before I forget, I will be away as well, from July 23 until July 29/30, so, just in time to announce the election results... ;). The cista will be up asap, by the way.

Salvete iterum, mi Marce

We will be staying at the Piazza Santa Croce, southeast to the Colosseum, and adjacent to the Theatro Castrense.

I am sure that there will be plenty to see in Rome... And it will need many more visits, too. But I think you already knew that, nonne?

Since I only hace 4 1/2 days, I will remain in the city itself, although, at some point in the future, I would like to see Ostia Antica as well.

When we get back, you should give me your opinion on the site.

Have a nice trip, my friend

Salvete,

Just a quick note to mention that Atticus, Mus and myself have returned from Napoli (though Atticus already left for Germany again). We went to, among other places, Pompei, Herculaneum, Oplontis, Capri (Villa Iovis), ... I was thinking of creating a new thread to give an overview, perhaps with some of the many pictures we took, what do you think Mus ?

And to all those who still have a journey ahead of them : ENJOY ! 8)
