OK, amici, here is your chance to vote on the Roman woman most likely to have been reincarnated as Paris Hilton!

I promise to post the results at the official fan site of "The Simple Life".

I voted for Messalina. Of all the candidates, she seems to have been the biggest party girl of antiquity. Like the Paris of today, she took to the nightlife for fun and delight rather than ambition!

Salvete,

I've voted for Messalina as well. Clodia was more of cultured 'salon courtesan' (whereas I wonder if Ms. Hilton has read any book in the last few years), Agrippina was cruel and ambitious rather than hedonistic and superficial, and Cleopatra too used her looks for politics more than showing off. Of the three women left, I think Messalina has the most outspoken and fitting profile.

Valete,

Atticus

Also, I can't confirm this, but I've heard/read numerous times now that Cleopatra was reportedly not even that attractive or beautiful. Her sexual renown allegedly had to do with her skill at fellatio. What's true of this?

Cleo was not a beauty by ancient standards, and neither is Paris. Agrippina the Younger certainly was. I rather like Paris Hilton, or what little I know about her, because she seems to have a sense of humor and is able to make fun of herself.

Your poll apparently closed before I got back. I would probably have voted for Julia.
