salve

I am very fond of board games and I did some research on the internet about roman games. Check out this excellent site: http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/w/x/w ... games.html I wonder if someone here played one of these games before, are they difficult, are they fun, maybe someone has made a game himself, or knows where you can play this games online.

Salve Ariadne,

Check out this thread :

http://www.societasviaromana.org/phpBB2 ... .php?t=197

Piscinus has named a number of board games there.

I didn't mean present games about antiquity, I meant games like they were played in Rome, like tesserae, latrunculi, senet. I also saw that the link in my previous message didn't work, so try the homepage of Wladyslaw Jan Kowalski, http://personal.psu.edu/w/x/wxk116

Salve Ariadne,

I fixed the link in your first post, there was an extra "." that caused the link not to work.

Strangely enough, your second link doesn't seem to work. At the looks of the link, I'm thinking you might have forgotten to include .htm or something else.

By the way, that site is already listed among the link section of Col VQ (clickie here)

Nevertheless, those games do indeed look like fun. Board games have been played by almost every civilization throughout history. I remember the Egyptians playing a game called "The Jackal and The Cat" (I'm not sure if this is the correct name though).

I once created a game myself called: Arena: The Ultimate Battle (yes very cheesy, I know :)). However, it has got nothing to do with anything Roman if that's what you mean.

Vale bene!
