salvete sodales

the famous and dulcissima Cleopatra Aelia, the strongest woman in the whole imperium, introduced me to this forum.

My interests are Rome, but the civil Rome, i. e. the daily life, the religion, the houses, the sex, the clothing, the food, et c.. I am currently trying to really learn Latin, not as in school. I am optimistic to acquire a sufficient level of skill. My dream is to build my own thermae, but there will be a few years before I can start.

Salve Cepasacce,

Nice to see you here so I welcome you to this board.

Well, I doubt I'm the strongest imperium in the world, but at least I try to win all my fights

I wish you good luck that you can improve your Latin with the help of this forum.

Vale optime,
Cleopatra Aelia

For famous - try nota, notior, or notissima.

Salve, Cepasaccus.

Your own thermae!? On what scale do you plan to build? Do you plan a mini-version or something still larger?

It's a wonderful notion.

salve

Nothing big, but still full featured, i. e. with apodyterium, tepidarium, caldarium, frigidarium and laconium. Each room with a size of 2x2 or 3x3 passus should be enough. Has somebody an idea what such a building would cost?

Btw. another thing I would really like to try is a real cena cum convivio. iacere super lectos. vinum. (although I normally drink only egg nog) narrare de fabulis. cibi romani. ornamenta et unguenti. musica et crotalistriae hispanae.

Oh, I want in my thermae this statue of Venus: http://www.artbook.de/glypreplik1.html

Salve Cepasacce,

If I could get to Germania (without Legion orders), I could bring the fabulae...! >({|:-)

Convivio cum Cena, Vino, Fabulis

Postby Valerius Claudius Iohanes on Thu Oct 11, 2007 2:06 am

Denuo salve, Cepasacce -

I think we all probably join in your wish:

Sounds wonderful. And why not have eggnog as well?

Although the border-crossing geographic freedom we have here on the forum is a wonderful thing, it does preclude dinners together. Eheu!

Not necessarily. You, Iohanes, actually live close to where my sister lives.

Quinte, iam Iohannes convivium cum sorore tua facere potest? (Quintus, so Iohannes can do a convivium with your sister?)
