The italian Apietas association (http://www.apietas.org) organizes a roman-themed summer camp in Argusto (Calabria, southern Italy) from August 10 to 17.

This one is not military themed: there will be religious ceremonies, lectures, seminaries and experimental archaeology activities.
The price is only 25 euro per person for the whole camp. There will be shuttle buses for the nearby beaches.

The organizer is a roman archaeologist, so the camp is bound to be interesting. Calabria is one of the less touristic areas in Italy, but it has unspoilt sceneries (like the mountain village where the camp will be) and nice beaches.

More information about the camp can be found at http://www.campodiflora.net, but it's in Italian only.
