Salve Cives!

Me dirijo a vosotros por vez primera para ver si alguien puede ayudarme indicándome algunas de las características básicas de las construcciones, edificios, domus romanas, etc.. así sobre cómo estaban construidas las ciudades romanas.

I will answer you in English, simply because I can't write any Spanish...

First of all, welcome in the Societas Via Romana!

Concerning Roman construction and housebuilding, there is one major primary source to look into: "De Architectura" by Vitruvius Pollio. The complete Latin text is available at the Latin Library.

An English translation is available at the Lacus Curtius website. Private houses are dealt with in chapter 6.

I am not exactly a specialist on the subject, but this text will probably be a good introduction to whatever you want to know about Roman architecture.

Salve Aloni,

Me permito recomendarle un libro en Ingles, "City: A Story of Roman Planning and Construction", por David Macaulay. Lo puede encontrar en Amazon.com a precios muy razonables (sobre todo en cuanto los ejemplares usados).

Aunque escrito en Ingles, el libro esta profusamente ilustrado. En realidad es un tomo de grabados con textos explicativos anexados. Seguramente, este libro le contestara todos las inquietudes basicas que Ud. pueda tener.

Una parentesis: No somos "Cives" sino "Sodales". En SVR no pretendemos establecer ni un estado ni una nacion (bien sea real o virtual). Somos nada mas que una sociedad.
