The term Religio Romana

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

Where does the term Religio Romana come from? Did the ancients use it, or is it a modern designation? If the latter, who came up with it?

Salve Luci Garrule

The term is mainly a convenience used by modern historians, but it is based on what Cicero called the populi Romani religio (De Natura Deorum 3.5).
