Hello,
I'm at highschool and I have to make a workpiece about Philosophy and Myths. The question I want to research is: Did the pre-socratici believed in the gods and myths? They has found a completely new vision on the world, but I think they were influenced by the myths. Does someone have more information for me about that? I hope so,
I will thank you in participation,
Christine
p.s. Sorry for my broken English. I'm from Holland and English isn't my best subject.

Salve/ Hello Christine

Personally, I think that pre-socratici did not believe in myths, because that was their main reason for them to devellop their ideas. I know this is not a very elaborate answer, but I am not an expert on these matters.

I hope others will be more of assistance to you
Good luck with your assignment

Hallo Christine,

Gezien hier minstens acht Belgen zijn spreken velen onder ons een aardig woordje Nederlands ;).

But for the convenience of everyone, I will reply in English.

The presocratics were the first people to base their knowledge of the world not on myths (one could say that they created a new set of myths instead ;) although they were more based on empirical observance). But that doesn't exclude that they might have believed some of them, and almost certainly they still believed in the gods or in the divine.

On another note. If you are a female person (which I highly suspect you are ;)), your nickname should be Planta Pricta (whatever it means). If you're interested, you can join SVR as a member. It's free!
