Salvete omnes,

I know Mos Maiorum means "ancestral customs" but I have been coming across it more and more lately in books, and I was wondering if anyone has any information on what exactly the Mos Maiorum entailed?

In Pax Deorum,

Salve, Iulii Nero.

I always figured that since it was MOS maiorum, in the singular, it stood for the collective customs, traditions, morals of the forefathers.

Whoever wrote the Wikipedia stub for this item defines it in the same vein:

Maybe the scholars and resident magistri of the sodalitas will weigh in at this point.

Vale Maxime, Tite Iulii Nero.
