Contemporary practice of ancient philosophies ?

Salvete,

A question to the members of this forum : do you believe ancient philosophies (e.g. Platonism, Stoicism, Epicureanism etc.), which were primarily 'practical' in nature, can still guide our conduct in the 21st century and if so, can we just pick them up as they are in the books or do we need to carry out adaptations ?

I will also ponder this question and post my own answer to it shortly.

Valete,

Atticus

In my opinion, they can still guide us today although we have to adapt them to our present day situation and circumstances. Every philosophy can be applied today, it is just a matter of adapting it to our world because our modern world is far to different and to alien from the world of antiquity.
