Salvete sodales

The deadline for announcing candidacies has now passed. We did not receive any announcements for the office of Censor and lack enough candidates to fill both offices of aediles, and both offices of rogatores. I will consider accepting late announcements for candidacies for aedilis and rogator. I will leave it to our new consules to hold elections in January for the office of censor.

Salvete
I haven't really read about any person holding public office who can stay in a partculier office more than one year. I didn't came across this in the regula. Can one person hold one office for more than one year?
If this is somewhat unconstutional in SVR, we could try to make an exeption by allowing those people to maintain office until a replacement is found. It is just an idea.

Salve Piscine,

I think we lack just one candidate for the office of Rogator, I've submitted my candidacy on the comitia list on December 5, still one day before the deadline.

We lack one candidate for rogator, one for aedilis and one for censor.

Romule, holding two offices at once is not allowed by our Regula Fundamentalis. I do think it should be possible to find candidates.

Salve Draco
I didn't mean that one person holding two offices. What i was trying to say is that the person holding the office of lets say aedilles of the year before, could stay in office until a candidate is found and elected.
That was the point i was trying to raise.

Ah, I see. Well it would be a little silly to force magistrates to remain in office until someone to replace them is found, wouldn't it? You can't force them ;).

nobody said that they will be forced to that. I think this should ony be usedwhen the magistrate in question wants to stay in office, voluntarely until the needed candidates are found to hold a new election for that office.

Salvete Sodales

CALL FOR CANDIDATES

We still require candidates for the offices of Aediles, Rogator and Censor. The cista is to be set up by Midnight 11 December so that the elections may take place as scheduled. In accordance with the Regula elections must begin no later than the Ides of Decamber (13 Dec). If it is practicable for the Aediles to have the cista ready for elections to begin on time, then I am willing to accept announcements for candidacies up to Midnight 11 December, Rome time. That gives the aediles only one full day to set up the cista and test it before elections will begin. I am confident that the Aediles Dionysii will be capable and willingly to make last minute adjustments of the cista. So please, if any sodalis has been considering office they should do so at this time.

Cista??

Postby Aldus Marius on Tue Dec 16, 2003 3:43 am

Heia...

Where's the Cista?

No URL for it in this thread... No active link on the SVR home page... Haven't bumped into it anywhere else. And the election started two days ago.

Is it not up yet, or am I just overlooking the obvious?

Et tu?

Postby Aldus Marius on Sun Jan 18, 2004 12:11 am

Na, mi Draco, he must've been in line right behind me... My vote was barely-legal, and wouldn't have been counted if we'd been running this election on Texas time--in Dallas, it weren't officially the first day of voting yet. (I have that advantage, being able to do online things while you folk are sleeping.) >({|;-)

The elections have concluded.
21 people voted of which one vote was voided (non-existing voter code, even not near an existing one  ).

The results then:

Rogator
Primus Aurelius Tergestus 9
Marcus Pomponius Lupus 11
Abstineo 0

Aedilis
Tiberius Dionysius Draco 14
Lucius Tyrrhenus Garrulus 6
Abstineo 0

Praetor
Romulus Aurelius Orcus 12
Tiberius Coruncanius 7
Abstineo 1

Consul
Gn. Dionysius Draco Invictus 10
Publius Dionysius Mus 10
Abstineo 0

Censor
Gaius Cornelius Lentulus 18
Abstineo 2

Decretum de Vacuitate
Uti rogas 18
Abstineo 1
Nego 1

Decretum de Instutionibus
Uti rogas 17
Abstineo 0
Nego 3

Which gives us a small problem, because we do not have a senior consul!
The newly elected magistrates will be in office on the first of February.

Anyway, congratulations to everybody, not only the candidates, but also to the whole of the senate who made these elections possible, to the rogatores for counting and monitoring these elections, and of course to the people who voted!
